Blue & Orange Madness

Students, faculty, alumni, parents, and friends of Pepperdine University will gather Friday, Oct. 16, for the 8th annual Blue & Orange Madness. The spirited event, held in conjunction with the Seaver College Family Weekend, will take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on the Malibu campus. Blue & Orange Madness marks the first opportunity for the Pepperdine men's and women's basketball teams to practice for the 2009-10 NCAA season. The Waves will hit the court in Firestone Fieldhouse at 8:45 p.m. for a scrimmage and skills show. Prior to the scrimmage, festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with carnival-like activities in the “Madness Village” located on the Firestone Fieldhouse parking lot. A broad range of complimentary food, stunt shows, games, interactive activities, live musical performances, and raffles for prizes donated by Malibu businesses will be available until 8:15 p.m., when doors open for the main program.

Blue & Orange Madness has become the most popular student event at Pepperdine, with record crowds coming out to kick off the start of the fall sports season.

“It's exciting because everyone gets together to have a great time, all while supporting Pepperdine sports,” says Steven Arnold, Seaver College alumnus.

Dustin Glentzer, Special Events Co-Chair with the Student Programming Board, says this year's Blue & Orange Madness will not disappoint. “This year we have dancers, a halftime show featuring WE ARE HEROES, Spirit Cup lip-sync contest, announcement of this year’s King & Queen, a dunk tank, obstacle course, face painting, rock climbing wall, and free food from In-N-Out Burger and Domino's Pizza.”

The event and all related features are free of charge. For more information on Blue & Orange Madness, please contact Jarrett Fisher at (310) 506-4201.
